Julia Behrens is a medical herbalist with an honours degree in Phytotherapy, over 23 years of practical experience, qualifications in Nutrition, Swedish massage and teaching.

She is a member of the College of Practising Phytotherapy (MCPP), has taught at the School of Herbal Medicine, lectured at East London and Westminster University, consulted for the WWF and been a staff trainer for Neal’s Yard Remedies. She runs a range of courses in Herbal Medicine for schools and community groups. She has published articles about the conservation of medicinal plants in the European Journal of Herbal Medicine, WWF and Plant Life, and is a co-author of Healing Herbs (Dorling Kindersley, 2020).

Julia applies sustainable and holistic principles in both her medicinal practice and treatment of clients.  While working along side GPs and experienced health care professionals she uses her knowledge to treat, preventative ill health and restore well being and vitality.

She combines her knowledge of plants and bodywork to tailor prepare individual prescriptions from her well-stocked dispensary and make up formulas, capsules, creams and tinctures. She treats common conditions affecting the whole family and complex conditions with particular interest in natural changes effecting women. Julia specialises in women’s health, menopause fertility and Lyme disease. Lyme disease is a multisystem disorder that can affect every system in the body including sleep patterns, hormone imbalance, circulatory and arthritic conditions.

Julia’s compassion, sense of humour and wide knowledge of plants can help restore balance, reduce stress, chronic pain, inflammation, hormonal imbalance and generally support emotional and physical well-being.

Julia is excited to be joining the Hove practice and is passionate about working with and creating space for sustainable health care.
