Angela Susini

Angela Susini is an abstract artist whose practice draws from Japanese minimalism and the healing tradition of Shinrin-yoku; forest bathing. Her meditative, elemental work in gouache, ink and natural materials creates what she describes as interior sanctuaries: spaces for rest and restoration. She is also training alongside Jess Brass on Rosie Lux’s Yoga Teacher Training at Ochre House, bringing her embodied creativity into the community.

Angela’s formal journey into the world of art began with a prestigious scholarship to the Opificio delle Pietre Dure in Florence, an institution renowned for its exclusivity, admitting only a select few students each year. There, she earned a Master’s degree in Art Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, awarded by the Italian Ministry of Culture.

She took a different path towards abstract art; her studies spanned the history of art from the Paleolithic to the Modern and Classical periods and included rigorous training in fresco painting, pittura su tela e tavola (painting on canvas and panel), and traditional paper making using both worn cloth and pure cellulose.

She has restored a wide range of culturally significant works, including preparatory drawings by Renaissance masters, hand-painted wallpapers, ancient globes on parchment, fashion sketches, and Leonardo da Vinci’s Resta Codex at the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan. Other notable restoration projects involved Corali choir books, antique globes, and parchment drawings.
