Laura Seymour is a mixed media artist working across painting, model making, mobiles and moving image. Inspired by the uncanny, oddness, irreverence and the macabre her work is colourful and detailed, with a touch of melancholy. Her models celebrate feminism, fables and folk, inspiring a sense of child-like joy sometimes tinged with the sinister.
With a BA in Graphic Design from Camberwell College of Art Laura has a background in animation, film, design and is fuelled by a life-long need to make and create in whatever the medium that suits the story…
She has recently returned to focus on her art after years as a freelance film maker and designer while also running Foodini Club, an award winning children’s cooking club designed to help families explore seasonal food.
Laura is one of Sam McCarthy’s longest collaborators, working together in animation, production and the building of Ochre House itself. She helped shape the organisation’s visual identity and became a Director of UMEUS CIC. She is the co-collaborator of OHOHOH and is soon to run creative therapeutic workshops in Ochre House.
