Meet Irene

Counsellor

Every life has a landscape of its own: open ground, unexpected crossings, and places where the path seems to disappear beneath our feet. We move through it differently, shaped by the stories that have brought us here.

Although each journey is ours to walk, being met with compassion and understanding can offer a clearing: a place to pause, allow our experience to be present, and gather what we need to find a way through.

I am a trainee counsellor with a background in education and child development, having worked with children, young people and families internationally. What fascinates me most is what this work reveals about being human: how we become who we are, how we relate to one another, and how we seek meaningful lives.

My practice is rooted in a person-centred approach. I believe we are all doing the best we can with what is available to us, and that difficult parts of ourselves may be trying to protect us or meet an important need. When approached with curiosity and empathy rather than judgement, change can become possible.

I value a collaborative therapeutic relationship. Therapy, for me, is not about telling you where to go or what to do, but offering space to meet yourself with honesty, attend to what is painful and what sustains you, and discover what feels right for you.

Alongside my counselling training, I am exploring embodied, consent-led approaches to intimacy and sexuality, trauma-informed expressive arts, and bereavement support through my volunteering with Cruse.

My wider experience includes over a decade of mindfulness and yoga practice, time at a meditation centre and in intentional communities, and experience across different countries and cultures. These experiences have deepened my appreciation for the many ways people discover what makes them feel alive, and for how personal change can quietly contribute to a kinder world.
